Mary Eileen McDonnell is an American actress who has worked in television, film and on stage. Her birth date was April 28th 1953. McDonnell was awarded an Academy Award nomination for her part as Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and she is also very well known for her portrayal of President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica as the wife of President during Independence Day and for her leading role in Donnie Darko, as the main protagonist's mother.
